Franklin Trail Trailhead
Description :
The Franklin Trail is one of the trails constructed at the turn of the past century. Forest Service crews completed the trail in 1913, and it served as the main access point for the citizens of Carpinteria to access the mountainous backcountry for hunting, fishing, and other recreational purposes. This easily accessible trail begins at the end of Meadow View Lane. Take the short trail north to the west side of the Carpinteria High School parking lot, where the trail resumes. After winding around the high school and surrounding property, you emerge onto a lovely single track with ocean views. A steady climb will take you up the foothills with numerous vistas along the way. The trail is 7.9 miles long with a 4000+ ft elevation gain.
