Ayr Mount

Located in Hillsborough, North Carolina, Ayr Mount is an 1815 masonry federal home and the first of its kind in this area. Thanks to the preservation efforts of Richard Jenrette, it remains well preserved with several original family objects on display. Guided tours of Ayr Mount invite you to learn about the house, its furnishings, and the free and enslaved people who lived and worked here. The grounds are open daily from 9:00am to 7:00pm. The Poet's Walk encircles the property with a gentle one-mile-long walking trail. Please leash and clean up after your pets. Tours are available April through November most Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Tickets are available for purchase at our website.
